Veikko Valli has served as honorary consul for Finland in Oregon since 2021. Mr. Valli has a background in the finance industry having previously worked at investment banks or institutional investors in Helsinki, San Francisco and London. He is currently the co-founder and Chief Investment Officer of Snowstorm Capital. He is native to Finland and has resided in Portland, Oregon since 2015.
A key aspect of Mr. Valli's responsibilities is to promote economic and cultural relations between Finland and Oregon. As honorary consul he can advise Oregon companies, for instance, in obtaining information about local business culture and in finding business partners in Finland. He can also assist Finnish companies with opportunities in Oregon.
Mr. Valli can provide advice and guidance for distressed Finnish citizens and permanent residents who are temporarily abroad, assisting them in their contacts with local authorities or the nearest Finnish embassy or consulate. Certain types of notarized certificates can be acquired through an honorary consul. Finnish honorary consuls do not accept passport applications nor do they handle matters pertaining to visas or residence permits.
