Honorary Consul and Past Dean of OCC
Cyrille Michel serves as honorary consul for Belgium since May 16, 2016. His area of responsibility is Idaho, Oregon, and Clark County in the state of Washington. Cyrille supports the Consulate General of Belgium in Los Angeles (losangeles@diplobel.fed.be; telephone: +1 (323) 857-1244). The consulate general is located at 6300 Wilshire Boulevard, Suite 720, Los Angeles, CA, 90048. Most consular matters are restricted to the Consular General (http://www.belgiumintheusa.be). In terms of consular services, the honorary consul position provides mostly assistance to Belgian citizens in difficulty, and legalization of some specific documents. The position promotes bi-lateral trade and cultural relationships between Belgium and the USA. In 2016, Belgium was the tenth largest export destination for US companies. Belgium was the thirteenth largest investor in the United States (2013 data; in value). Belgian companies with a presence in Cyrille’s area of responsibility include Solvay, Barco, Harrington Industrial Plastics, Puratos, Showpad, Bush Agricultural Resources, and Naco Products. In the same vein, among the nine-hundred US companies with a presence in Belgium, the largest ones located in Cyrille’s area of responsibility are Nike and Blount International (2017 data).
Cyrille leverages several decades of diverse experience in a manufacturing firm with global presence. Cyrille focuses now on helping organizations maximizing shareholders’ value. Cyrille is the founder of IntegrationBoost LLC, a management-consulting firm helping small and medium-sized companies (www.integrationboost.com). Cyrille also volunteers on the board of Exceed Enterprises, a not-for-profit company dedicated to the well-being of disabled adults in the Portland, Oregon, community (www.exceedpdx.com). Cyrille grew up in Belgium. He moved to the USA with his family in 1988.
