Honorary Consul
Birgit Hayden is a native of Salzburg, Austria, and transitioned to life in the Pacific Northwest in 2001 following her marriage to her American husband. Since then, she has joyfully balanced her career in the Insurance industry with raising their three children in Portland. For the past five years, Birgit has been a pivotal force at the Portland branch of Chubb Insurance. Her high skillfulness in organization, marketing, and the intricacies of insurance make her a great asset.
Beyond her professional life, Birgit plays an active role in her community. She has served on the boards of the Portland Heights Dance Club, and the Austrian American Society of Oregon, and was elected in 2022 to join the board of a global organization representing Austrians living around the world, Auslandsoesterreicher Weltbund.
Birgit's ongoing engagement with her home country and robust experiences made her an ideal choice for the honorary consul position in Portland. After being confirmed in January 2024, she is eager to serve and connect the Austrian community, businesses, and anyone in Portland interested in Austria.
